How it works
Remove an AI watermark in three steps
Open, mask, export. Everything happens on your Mac — no uploads, no account, no waiting on a server.
-
1
Open your image
Drag in a single image or a whole folder. Zilly scans it for visible watermarks and provenance metadata.
-
2
Mark the watermark
Auto-detect suggests regions, or paint over the logo with the brush. Fine-tune with zoom, undo and redo.
-
3
Remove & export
Click Remove. The regions are rebuilt on-device and exported with all metadata stripped — in seconds.
Under the hood
Real inpainting, not a blur
When you mark a watermark, Zilly passes the image and your mask to a bundled LaMa (Large Mask Inpainting) Core ML model. The model predicts the pixels that belong under the mask and rebuilds them, so textures and edges stay believable.
Large images are automatically tiled and stitched so memory stays bounded, and very large files are downscaled with a clear warning rather than risking a crash.
Common questions about the process
Do I need an internet connection?
No. The model is bundled with the app and everything runs locally. The only time Zilly reaches the network is if you choose to download a model update.
Will it change my original files?
Never. Zilly reads your original and writes a new clean copy, so your source images are always untouched.
How long does it take?
A typical single image takes about three seconds on Apple silicon. Batch runs process images one at a time for stability.
Can I review the mask before removing?
Yes. You can paint, adjust and preview the mask with full undo/redo before you click Remove.
